Xi'an
was one of the four greatest capitals along with Athens, Rome and Cairo.
It was the starting
point of the Silk Road. From 11th century B.C. to 10th century A.D. Xi'an
was the capital of thirteen different Chinese dynasties, including Great
Han and Tang Dynasties. It is the famous spot of Qin's Terra-cotta army.
Bill Clinton visited here during his presidency.
Zhang
Xueliang was ordered to leave his huge army there to fight the Communist
Party led by Mao Zedong. It was a place where the Communist Party was
"reborn" after the Long March.
Today, Xi'an does not play as important role as in ancient times, but
it is still the backbone of inland China, and the historical achievement
of the city will remain forever.
