About The Author

Hello, everyone!

My PhotoMy name is Hanzhe Zhang. I shared my last name with the main character, but we have no relationship. I am a 14-year-old boy in Grade 10 of University High School, Los Angeles. I was born in China, and lived in Canada before coming to the United States. I have many hobbies: math, chess, computer, basketball, soccer... and of course, history.

My parents both are working on physics, and they are working in UCLA now, and UCLA Eastern Asian Library helped me alot in reasearching my topic. My parents gave me a lot of ideas about him and the whole incident.

My History Day Project is on the Xi'an Incident, which was happened in December 12, 1936, just before World War Two. Someone described the Japanese massacre in China was an "Eastern Holocaust". Therefore, I want to help people to know clearly about this part of history.

I learnt a lot of things throughout the process, and I think I loved history more.

That's the first time I participate in the National History Day Contest, and I hope I could have a good result this year, and will improve more in next couple of years.

In Los Angeles, California
